Waterman 56 New York BHR Fountain Pen 1920. 14K F Full Flex Nib. Just serviced with New Ink Sac. Works and Writes as when New.

This pen has ZERO, Cracks, Splits, Dents, Scratches or Bite Marks etc. Made in New York, USA between 1919 and 1924. Looks to have been used very little if ever in its life. Always living in its original box.

This pen is an Early issue REG. Still has Broad wide Clip Cap Clip. After 1924 the Clip became slimmer and Clip Cap imprint was removed. The model 56 are OVERSIZE pens. Only the model 58 is bigger.

The 58 is too wide in my opinion. The 55 and 56 are BIG but not crazy. They have the perfect width, length and weight balance in the hand when writing. The HUGE size 6 Nib is perfect.

Ultra rare to find such fantastic unmolested 1920s nibs. The Fine to Extra Fine Iridium tips are a simple JOY to behold. Untouched Iridium is good to last several more lifetimes. You will NOT see a better condition Nib or its Iridium Tips than this pen has. F to EF Full Flex is the most highly sought after of ALL vintage Waterman Nibs.

The pen itself is made of BHR (Black Hard Rubber) Very rare to find one of the SMOOTH GLOSS finish examples of the 56. Most 56 are Chevron Chassed BCHR. The BHR is a fabulous Jet Black High Gloss mirror like perfection. IDEAL etc etc Barrel and Tail End Imprints are so deep you can read them from the Moon. The best set of Imprints I have seen in a long time. Also has 56 stamp on base of tail end. The Clip Cap Clip, Ring Band and Lever are Yellow Gold plated and also perfect with ZERO Plate Loss or Brassing etc. Beyond Rare to find such perfect original Gold Trim. Overall once in the hand to the naked eye this 100 years old pen looks positively New Born. Must have belonged to Benjamin Button.

As historically important and beautiful as this pen undoubtedly is to look at it writes ever better. Nibs simply do not get any more creative than this. A nib that can write ALL line widths. Waterman Nibs from this ERA are considered by MANY writing connoisseurs as. It writes with a Fine to Extra Fine Line that has Extra Fine line side stroke at normal pressure.

Quite user friendly for such a Fine nib tip. However, this nib really comes alive the moment you exercise its flexibility. This nib can flex all the way past Double Broad with EVERYTHING in between on the down stroke when varying levels of pressure is applied. The Flex is also quite user friendly in that it is not, Soft, Loose or Twitchy.

Only flexes upon user command never by itself. This nib is so creative its ONLY limitation is the imagination and writing ability of its user.
